Greetings,
My name is Jaime Jarvis, and I am writing on behalf of the Korean War Legacy Foundation. We are seeking your support in connecting with descendants of Korean War veterans in your community to participate in a commemorative event sponsored by the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. Our foundation is dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of those who served, and this year we are organizing a special opportunity for young adults who are descendants of Korean War veterans to participate in a unique commemorative event.
We would be deeply grateful if someone from your post or community could speak with me about how we might share this opportunity with your members and descendants, taking place from August 4-8th, 2026, and help identify potential participants. Your insight and connections within the community would be invaluable in helping us reach young descendants who may benefit from this program. The program includes room and board, with a generous travel reimbursement.
If you have any questions or would like more information, I am happy to connect at your convenience. Please contact me at jjarvis@koreanwarlegacy.org.
PROGRAM
Your Legacy, Our Future is a USA 250 commemorative event is a unique 4-day experience in Washington, DC, designed for young adults ages 18–24 who are descendants of Korean War veterans who served between 1950 and 1955. As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, participants will explore the lasting legacy of the Korean War and the enduring values of service, sacrifice, and freedom that have shaped the nation.
Through lectures, visits to memorials and museums, engaging discussions, and cultural exchange opportunities with South Korean university students, U.S. teachers, and South Korean teachers, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the war’s impact on both the United States and the Republic of Korea.
The Minister and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs will travel to Washington, D.C., with an official delegation from the Republic of Korea. Their participation underscores the importance of the U.S.–Republic of Korea alliance and the shared commitment of both nations to preserving the memory and legacy of Korean War veterans.
This immersive experience honors the sacrifices of Korean War veterans while fostering new international friendships and helping a new generation connect with their family history and the ongoing responsibility to preserve the legacy of those who served. This event is co-hosted and sponsored by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. More details can be found at our website:
