Commander Oliva Thank You note 2022

Commander Oliva - 7/14/2022

Thanks for a great Golf Tournament

As Tewksbury's VFW Post 8164 Commander I would like to thank everyone who helped make our 3rd annual golf tournament a huge success.

To all the volunteers who helped start this event a year ago, please accept my sincere thanks for all you did.  I want to single out John Fernandez, who was instrumental organizing our 3rd annual event on the golf course. Thank you to all our sponsors and donors.  Without them and golfers who participated and supported, this VFW Post 8164 event would not have been such a success.

I want to thank Atkinson Resort and Country Club for hosting our 3rd annual event for the second year in a row.  Its staff went above and beyond to ensure the success of this tournament.

In closing, I can't thank you enough for joining us.  I've heard so many positive comments from you golfers and the best to me was I got no complaints.  Enjoy the rest of the summer.  Look forward to seeing you again next year.  Stay Safe, Stay Healthy!

Holyoke Veterans Home Criminal Case: Settled

Criminal case against Bennett Walsh, the former superintendent of the Veterans’ Home in Holyoke, and Dr. David Clinton, the home’s former medical director, were facing five counts of criminal neglect after the Massachusetts’ highest court overruled a lower court judge last year and reinstated the charges. Yesterday Hampden Superior Court Judge Edward J. McDonough accepted their request that each charge be continued without a finding for a three-month probationary period — a plea in which they acknowledge facts in the case could result in a guilty verdict on each count.
