Vinnie Oliva
Commander - Army

 Vinnie Joined the Army in 1968 after graduating high school.  Upon completion of advanced training he was assigned to the 1st Logistical Command in Quin Nhon, Vietnam.  He served in Vietnam from August 1968 to October 1970 and completed three tours before his ETS out of country. His Dad was a Chief Petty Officer and tried to recruit him into the Naval Reserves but he wanted no part of the military after coming home.  Twelve years later, 1982, he joined the Air Force Reserve where he proudly served for twenty five years. His awards include the National Defense Medal with two devices, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two devices, SPS M14 Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with two devices, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Longevity Medal with six devices, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hour glass, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with gold boarder and one device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and many other certificates and unit awards.  Served in support of Operation Noble Eagle/Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom.  Deployed to Kuwait in 2004 as a Air Transportation Craftsman and a leader of a thirty three man and woman team.

     Vinnie joined the VFW in 1997 and is a life member of Tewksbury Post 8164. He served as Commander from 2008 to 2012 and is serving again in 2014 to present.,  He has been the district chairman for the Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen Programs from 2014 to 2020.

     Vinnie and his wife, Sandra reside in Tewksbury, Ma.  Between them they have five children and six grandchildren.
